Driving along with no obvious issues and I see a red check guages light comes on and my feul level drops from 1/4 tank to dead empty and I know I have gas in the tank.
Checked codes and I got a P2066 and I can't find it on any code list.
I cleared the code and my feul level returned and the light went out.
Anybody have a clue .....
**** Bob the Geek: please don't tell me my PCM is taking a crap
Mine did that too when I got some crappy gas. Scared the hell out of me. I was out in the middle of nowhere and I look down and see a check guages and my fuel guage was on E.
A couple of bottles of Techron will probably clean it up. It worked on mine.
Same thing here, same solution. I reset the code, the needle came back up to 1/4 tank. I stopped at the gas station and was only able to get 15 gallons in it. So the gauge was correct after resetting the code. A few years back the same thing was happening sort of.... The needle would stay at half tank for a long time, then drop to LOW FUEL. They replaced a sending unit for that one (under warranty at the time). Not sure whats happening now. Same code as you get.

Thanks both of you for letting me know ..... since I couldn't find the code I thought maybe I was having a flashback.....
This link has 5 times as many P codes as the other lists .... GREAT!!!
Howie! every time we are on a cruse or at the track together you will only buy fuel at a Chevron station. Did you break your hard and fast rule and fill up at Thrifty Gas?
I put two (2) of the small bottles in my tank and filled it up and ran it out; then I put one small bottle in my tank and filled it to 3/4 and ran that out. No more fuel guage problems since that treatment.
Well it's the only thing left on my car that hasn't.
I was going to drop by today and see if the GOCC was there but decided even I wan't man enough to show up with my rear quarter panel held together with duct tape..........

Car is ready to explode. Exit car rapidly.
Now Howie except for a small indication about duct tape in another post it appears that you have kept this pretty quite. So spill the beans... or I'm calling Becky so she can post... Was this after the flying roof incident?
Take it in and the warranty will cover the repair. I drove into one of our local gas stations with a working gauge and after I filled up it wasn't working any more. Drove immediately to the dealer and they ordered a new part and put it in the next day.
