I recently noticed that my heating/AC system isn't working properly. When I set the temp to 80 (I've tried 75 - 90), I get warm (or rather, the "correct" temp -- whatever is set) air out of the driver's side, but COLD air out of the passenger side vents. I've had a couple of people say something in the past, but I pretty much thought they were crazy. Noticed it myself the other night.
Movement of the passenger side temp adjustment **** has no effect.
Just wondering how big of a problem (and how expensive the repair) I have.
In my time as a Vette tech I have replaced the blend door actuator motors quite often. If you do have dual zone.
The actuator motors cost is around $175.00 retail and it should take about 2 hours to replace. If you want to brave it your self good luck. The gears in the motor brake and cant handle the tention of the door and at times will not be able to open the door all the way, causing your temp to be different from side to side.
I had the same problem when we bought our '97 Vette in August. Warm air out of driver's vents and cold air from passenger vents. We have the dual climate control system. I disconnected the battery overnight so the system could reset. After reconnecting the battery the next mornng, everything worked fine. I believe that you can accomplish the same thing by removing a couple of fuses, but I wanted to check under my battery for corrosion.
Well thats a current code and it is listed as Right Acuator Out of Range...I am sure someone on here will have the service info on it but sounds like the problem
I had a similar problem, but in reverse. I was ONLY getting hot air out of the passenger side vents. Diagnosed as the passenger side actuator by the dealer. Parts and labor came to just over $500. Initially I tried disconnecting the battery and several well thought out cuss words, but all to no avail, prior to taking it to the dealer.

That is NOT the fix for an actuator out of range. See my link above.
I would recommend that the original poster try disconnecting the battery. If that doesn't fix it, it's either a bad actuator, or it needs to be reindexed. Adding freon has nothing to do with a HVAC door that is out of calibration.

I certainly don't think it is freon since it is practically snowing out of the passenger side vents regardless of the temp setting.
I disconnected the battery overnight and that didn't solve it. Of course, all of my settings (seats and radio) were still set so maybe I need to leave it disconnected longer?

No, just a few minutes is plenty. When you reconnect the battery, the doors go through a 'recalibration' of sorts. If you are still getting the code, your door is either way out of calibration, or a gear could be damaged inside the actuator. I'm beginning to think your problem is inside your actuator.
Also, I'm not sure if the radio has flash memory or what, but I never lose my settings when I disconnect my battery.

Well, the dealership just called. It's the right actuator (surprise) and the control head. Ugh.
Of course, with this repair (and last weeks fuel sensor and fuel pump) I wonder if this is the beginning of the downward slide in reliability -- and therefore time to sell and get a new car.
