Default Sound Absorption for '04 Z06

Could somebody recommend a 'sound killer device' for my Z06? I have custom pipes and the cars flies but the noise is somewhat crazy.

I see Ecklers sells two types one for $99.00 and one for $299.00. The more expensive one is thinner using a 'gator foam' so I would assume that it is better given the price.

I welcome any and all comments.

Thanks,

Mr. Winston

Although I know nothing about the products you mention, I do know a bit about sound. It doesn't matter as much how thick the material is. It is more about the mass of the material. Especially for the lower frequencies.

Next important would be the coverage. All gaps and spaces between the source and you should be covered and sealed. The lower the frequencies you are trying to stop the more mass you need. The lower frequencies also have the ability to "go around" your barrier. This is why you need good coverage.

So if weight wasn't an issue, sheets of lead would work very well.

Of course, the BEST solution is to reduce it at the source itself. Mufflers. But then that's probably not what you want.

there are a lot of soundproofing products available that greatly reduce road noise from a stock C5. But on a car with an intentionally loud exhaust - you'll not have much success.

You can apply sound proofing materials to many surfaces... but not the glass

I'd try installing soundproofing in the entire interrior and the wheelwells. Z06's were already lighter on the sound deadening than the rest, and the FrostKing insulation definitely helped in my vert.

Good luck!

Check this forum for "crazy cowboy's" insulation kit. I did my complete interior and between the rear outer wheel panels - well worth the $$ & time for the improvement gained.
