I got in my vette yesterday and all of a sudden the oil pressure is hanging out in the high 70's at idle. Driving home I almost pushed it into three digits. I turned the car off and then on again to see if it was a glitch. Also, the DIC and the gauge had the same reading.
There are a lot of posts on this common problem. The only ones who seem to have the problem reoccur are the ones who replace the bad sender with an AC Delco.

Anyone know what causes this?
OEM sender, aluminum housing, leaking. Replace with Standard brand (I think - do a search on oil pressure sender to be sure). It's under the intake manifold. There is a vacuum line that controls your AC doors. Put an extension on the line to make it easier to hook up after you get the manifold back in place. You do NOT want to use the genuine GM part made in Mexico with the aluminum housing. Use aftermarket with a brass housing for longer service life.
I drove Nancys 99 Coupe today and Noitced the Oil pressure Pegged and the Digital gage reading 126 , Restarted, still present.
Is it hard to change the sender?
Wow That is out of this world. Thanks. Even in color. Thank's Victorz and RWS.1 This is Great.
Where can one get the Fuel Line Remover Tool? Is it available online?
