Default Adding a ground strap?

i was reading thru the new gm hi tech performance magazine this month and noticed one of the featured cars had a nice big braided ground strap from the head to the (probably) frame rail. i put a big ground strap on my highly modified 5.0 and it did wonders for the electrical gremlins that come with big pumps, big igniton, guages, ect. i have read countless threads about grounding issues. would one or two nice 4-2ga grounding straps be a good counter measure to help combat the grounding/electrical problems? would it hurt?

The Big 3 is always a good idea.

EG

As many of you know, upgrading the "Big 3" wires in your engine compartment can lower the overall resistance of your entire electrical system. The effects of the lower resistance are typically:

1) Reduced dimming and smaller voltage drops
2) More stable voltage and better current flow
3) Less strain on your vehicle's charging system

So for those of you looking for a cheap and easy way to upgrade your system and help out your electrical system without adding a high output alternator or an aftermarket battery, this is the modification for you. If you have heavy dimming or are getting large voltage drops during loud bass hits, but you don't have the money to spend on a high output alternator or a battery, upgrading your vehicle's "Big 3" will usually help to reduce and sometimes even eliminate the problems. So without further ado, the "Big 3" wires are:

1) Battery negative to chassis
2) Alternator to battery positive
3) Chassis to engine

is the chassis to engine on the back of the block? is this better than adding a nice big strap to both sides? thanks again.

I recently installed the "Hyper Ground System Type - M in my '04 C5 and am very happy with the results. The following is a description of the grounding kit:

Hyper Ground System (Type-M) Part #HG-M-CORVETTE for $115.00

The new "Hyper Ground Wire System" is the safe and reliable generation tuning system that provides a low resistance ground path. A better ground gives more Torque, better Mileage, better Response, and better Starting Ability. This system provides direct ground path from battery negative to body, chassis, and engine components to give extreme improvement on electrical circulation. In addition "Hyper Ground System" cables have 10 times less impedance than factory ground systems which provides immaculate conduction to prevent electrical power loss. The higher resistance of factory grounds, effect the ignition system and obstructs the primary potential. The "Hyper Ground System" uses thick gauge 99.99% pure copper, and connects directly from the cylinder head and other points under the hood to the battery, to provide an ultra low resistance connection. This will increase the primary potential of regular cars to ignition tuned vehicles.

Package Included Battery Terminal clamp and 5 Hyper Ground Wires in the following size:
400mm(15.7in)
600mm(23.6in)
800mm(31.5in)
900mm(35.4in)
1000mm(39.4in)

More torque and better mileage???

That's a bit far fetched. Grounds are great, but not that great

No - its not offered by GM; however, a number of online performance vendors sell this system for both domestics and imports. I'm not aware of any supporting vendors selling these so I won't post the link here. I PM'd you a source.
