I have a 03 Z06,31k miles, 6 speed an my car won't shift into 2nd gear. I'm curious to know if Chevy had a recall on 03 or earlier year vettes tranny. I believe i read a thread that the shift forks in the early year tranny were not steel, i can't find the thread. I've only had the car 2 months an i hardly ever drive it hard, never dragrace or do burnouts. Any info or advice on this is appreciated.
Thanks
p.s. Is there a site i can check chevy recalls?
I'm familiar with the 1st to 4th shift, the CAGS would eliminate this but that's not what it's doing. The car won't go into 2nd gear period. Slow, fast, on , off, nothing. It won't do it at all, 2nd or 6th. I figured they were on the same fork but i don't know why this is happening.
You may need to adjust the shifter. The shifter base can be moved to enhance shifting. The procedure is documented in the Service Manual and requires a stock shifter with the little L shaped bracket that is located at the front of the shifter housing.

Any idea of the treatment the car received before you bought it two months ago?
And is it that the car won't let you grab second at all, or does it crunch when you try? Mr. Dearborn is correct, there is an adjustment for same, but I wonder if the adjustment would help if you can't grab the geat at all? This sounds like a bigger issue.
I have the stock shifter in it an if i understand you correctly are you saying the stock shifter can get out of adjustment? My car won't grab second at all, i'm gonna start with simplest things first an hope i find a problem, i don't wanna drop the tranny.
