Any of you guys running Amsoil in your cars? If so, what do you think of it? What kind of change interval are you using, 3K miles or are you stretching it?
I have not tried it in the Vette, but have tried it in other vehicles I have. My motorcycle- '95 Suzuki 1400 Intruder put Amsoil in after break-in, it used it. Switched to Mobil 1 synthetic, doesn't use a drop. There was a difference going to Amsoil over conventional oil- ran cooler, shifted easier & queter, but Mobil 1 synthetic yeided the same results. Tried Amsoil in my boat- '94 Power Quest w/454, used it. Doesn't use Mobil 1 synthetic. Both vehicles were new and had been broken-in with conventional oil. Everything I own has Mobil 1 synthetic in it. I wouldn't use anything else. :chevy
It is excellent stuff and I would use it if it were easier to get. Mobil 1 is probably as good and I just wait for a "sale" and load up. After 150K, my Jimmy's engine looked like new inside. :D
I have 4 vehicles, including my 2000 hardtop, and I use it in all applications in all vehicles. Having seen the test results comparing Amsoil to the others, including the reformulated Mobil 1, I thought it looked like a good idea. As for the drain interval, I go with the oil life monitor in my C5, when it says to change, depending on how long it has been, I either change the oil and filter, or just the filter and send a sample off for testing. The oil always looks almost brand new, and I do not have a use problem in any of my vehicles. If you look at the test results for both wear and volitility, Amsoil has the others beat hands down. Their filters are also rated tops based on both ability to filter, and capacity to hold the "junk" removed. Using the Amsoil 800 number, you can have it delivered to your door! :flag
