Default Highbeam Headlights

I'm sorry if this has been covered 1000 times before but I did a search and cannot find anything on it.

I want to know if anyone has performed the mod to make both the low and high beam bulbs stay on together at the same time instead of only 1 at a time. I'm referring to the 2 bulbs in the pop up headlight assembly, and I'm not concerned with fog lights. I have PIAA's wired in seperately so they do not go off when the highbeams are turned on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to complete this update myself to have the maximum amount of light on high beam. Hopefully someone will have an easy answer.

Try here:

http://www.compltd.com/compt.htm

Here is what they say:

The WR 9005/6A harness will normally work exactly like your stock headlight system, but is capable of carrying a much higher amp load with no voltage drop. If your stock wiring turns off your low beams when going to high beam, then it will work that way with the harness as well. The good news is the harness can easily be modified to keep the low beams on with the high beams. I will perform the modification on the harness prior to shipping, or if you want I will provide a diagram of how to perform this modification and the parts needed. If you want the modification all done and ready to plug in; there is an additional charge of $14.95. The harness will allow you to use bulbs up to 100w with no concern and it will carry the load. It uses premium12ga wire for the load carrying wires in the harness and has two 30amp relays (one for high beam, one for low beam). The harness is also fused with 30 amp fusible links right at the connection to the battery, separate circuits for high and low.

I have no known issues with the '99 Corvette, it should work just fine. The shipping and handling to your location would be $9. Sample invoice with bulbs would look like this:
2 9006 80w Krypton Quartz bulbs @13.95 $27.90
2 9005 100w Krypton Quartz bulbs @13.95 $27.90
10% discount for 3 or more bulbs (-$5.58)
1 9005/9006 Harness $59.95
1 Modification $14.95
Shipping and Handling $ 9.00
$134.22

Here is the link for buying the Toshiba bulbs 9011 (highbeams) which u can alter to fit your low beam sockets. I've just ordered them to see how good it is. Everyone seems to really notice quite an improvement and it's a lot cheaper than HID or changing to euro kits etc. Worth a try in my opinion. I'll let u know.

You can use a relay made by Painless Wiring, originally designed for late model GM pickups. Wires are color coded the same. Mounted mine inside the battery compartment, routed wires out through existing hole, made connections under the coolant tank. Relay can be purchased from popular mail order speed shops. Less than $ 25.00, Painless Wiring part # 30802.

I installed my own relay and made my 03 vette have both high and low beam on when the high beams are turned on. All you need is a standard bosche style relay, multimeter and a few 3M t-taps and you can have this yourself. Parts cost about $5. I don't have my car right now but I will post up wire colors and pics as soon as I get it back, maybe later this week.
