Guys---My buddy is building the coolest project, a Chevy II nova with tube frame and LS1 motor. I think that he might be headed for trouble by resurfacing his used clutchplate/flywheel and think that I saw something about this here earlier? Is using a cut down clutch a mistake in a Camaro Z28 tranny LS1 setup? He said that he was planning on " cleaning it up" and I want to save him grief. Thanks in advance! Streeetrod :chevy
Re: Paging c4c5tech---Clutch question LS1 old work (Streetrod)
Hey, Rick, Usually the answer is - don't do it. But lately, I have read here that the Cartek clutch requires resurfacing the existing flywheel to clean it up and to make sure that it is flat on the clutch surface and on the surface which is against the crank. It may impact where the clutch pedal is when the clutch engages, but if an adjustable master cylinger is used, that problem goes away, too.

Hi there,
As with what Steve said, do NOT resurface the flywheel, at all.
Remember that Cartek clutches are different, and they require a different installation procedure.
If you were using a Cartek, then you are fine. However, if you are going to use stock, do NOT resurface.
Best to you, c4c5

Okay guys, One last question before I quit............how much ,using the adjustable master cylinder, can you safely remove before throw out bearing problems begin. Is this a spec situation and how much is allowed removed? Thanks, Streetrod. :chevy
