Has anybody ever replaced your covertible top before? Is it a difficult job and where is the best place top purchase a new top? I'd like to try and change mine myself so any info will be appreciated.
Lotsa folks on CF recommend Robbins vert tops. The consensus is that vert top replacement is not a DIY project. It's best left to an expert.
It's unbelievable that with all the C5 convertibles made, there has not been one person who has figured this out and shared it with the other forum members. We have guys here who have attemped and successfully completed many projects that should have been done by an "expert" When a guy shows in detail completely rebuilding an LS1 engine, I would argue that is not DIY project For the love of God man would someone please figure this out I've got 3 years tops until I'm going to need a new vert top.
I am having mine done soon, by a professional - $700. They also recommend the Robbins top, but my wife got me an EZ top thru M/A, so we will see how it goes.
I was told hanging out and taking pics would be ok. I will post them, for what it is worth.
Mine is oak now, but have been considering going to black. If you would send me a PM and let me know how much you would like for yours I would consider buying. I keep going back and forth on deciding to keep the oak or go black. Really the main reason I'm thinking about black is because the oak has been hard to keep clean.
As far as changing it myself, with a little guidance.........I ain't Sceerd.
