How is this done? I've seen it on some turbo charged imports (RX-7, etc), but can this be done on a C5 and if so, HOW? Also, does it damage the exhaust or the engine? It just looks  so I'm just wondering and getting some info.
This is very illegal. You need spark plugs and gas. Put the spark plug in your tailpipe and run a gas line to it that drips on the plug. It's something like that. It looks cool. I put on a lot of car shows and some of the older cars have it. You would probably melt the rear end of your car. :cry
On a race course .. cars are tuned for full throttle responce...you see this in formula 1 road racing ..where they go from 200 mph down to 20 mph..the raw gas explodes ( ignites through the hot exhaust ) similar to the popping some ppl get when down shifting their MN6

Guess I won't be doing this then. Looks cool though! Thanks for your help.
O-Ace, If you really want to do this contact the local car clubs in your area, the kinds were you have custom cars or "hot rods" like a 55 Chevy or a slammed 40's car. I think if you run a little rich and add the spark plug at the end of the pipes it will work, but the rich condition might not be worth the effort.
A local supercharged C5 shoots a fireball out the tailpipes at the end of the road course straight when he drops throttle and sends the rich mixture out the back. Flames out the pipe are a clear sign of no cats, their honeycomb serves as a flame arrestor also. Getting rid of the mufflers also helps, depending on the complexity of the internal chambering. It does NOT require you to set up a specific fuel line or glow plug if you've gotten rid of the cats. When you're at WOT and suddenly drop throttle, the rich unburnt fuel mixture will carry flame out the back.
on my 150 n20 shot I get flames from my Borlas  I have been told that it looks spactacular at night from those who had that view :smash: :smash: :smash:

I bet! next time i'm goin with u to the track. called TTS today, and the lady said it would ship out soon. told her I wanted it by friday...oh well, lets wait and see.
C5's can shoot flames too. It happens when your car is running very rich & you don't have any cats. Coming back from the track w/ race gas and running the NOS, I could get the exhaust to shoot flames.
