I am also planning a head-cam package with them, it is also convenient for me 2 hours away..From what i have heard, they are first class, and put out a great product.
They built me a 385 for my F-body and now they're building me a 422 for my C5. Nick/ARE are truly great to work with. I just wish they weren't so damn far away! :D
Re: ARE Customers: Lets Hear From Ya! (Slammed Vette)
I am waiting on Nick to complete my Heads, should be another 2 weeks. I purchased them with the help of MattG. Nick is shipping them straight to his installer here in Northern California. I just was looking at the 422 he built my installer to go in his F body. It looks totally sweet! Ralph (installer) polished out the valve covers to almost chrome..I am considering the same. I have not heard anything bad about ARE on this forum or anywhere else ever.

Thanks for the info. I've been talking to MattG also for the last couple weeks. I'm just gathering info at this time.
ooh..so you wanna go FAST? Do I foresee a Heads/Cam on the Torch Red beast in the near future....or do you plan on pimpin out the Benz :p:
Heads/Cam: Why would I do such a crazy thing like that :jester
I am looking into ARE heads and possibly a cam from them also. I have MTI heads on another car and am very very pleased with them. However, I think that ARE is offering a better value than MTI. MTI just increased their prices because, I believe, new springs and such. I would like to see some posts of the volumetric efficieny of both MTI and ARE heads along with some other parameters. I know they both flow, but that is the easy part. If you look at the fastest LS1's ,the majority are using either ARE or MTI, with a few MMS. I am very pleased with MTI, but my perception right now is that ARE has a slightly better price to performance. Who knows maybe I jsut want to try something different. :yesnod:
I do not think you can go wrong with either set up. I am going to be ordering a resleeved LS1 block from ARE around the start of Oct in prep for a 422 or 427 setup over the winter (dam cats out of the bag here in Chicago). ARE and Speedaholics are the only two places I know that are selling these resleeved blocks.
Before you order get the each heads (MTI and ARE) bench flows and breakdowns.

Thanks Jim for the input. I'm checking on all avenues but leaning towards ARE Stage II heads/cam if I do decide on getting Heads/Cam ;) Hows the TNT Kit holding up for ya? What are ya spraying right now? 150HP Shot :jester
ARE "are" great. Per my sig, I'm running a Stage II setup, with lots of intake tuning, etc. We've had the heads on our flow bench (don't have the numbers with me) and they're great. Total package works well, the car is a bear, and Nick is a pleasure to talk with.
I've had NO mechanical issues whatever, nor none related to to parts and their install. I DO have some CPU tuning issues, which Nick, Matt and my guys are working on. The latter is something one expects when modding these OBD II cars; the good news is that Nick and ARE wil absolutely stand behind their work. In fact, the programming involved is simply what has to be done to maximize the return one gets on these projects.
I'm planning a "big block" trip to ARE sometime in the next couple of months; that's as strong a recommendation as I can make.
