If your putting it on a LS1 and keeping the original coolant lines, you may want to remove some of the little ribs on the underside to give more space to the lines. Strictly up to you, some have replaced the coolant lines with later versions see LS1howto.com

There are suppliers that sell the intakes on an exchange basis with all the internal surfaces polished to remove any mold lines that might disturb air flow.
I don't know how much good it will do, but you could smooth out all the irregular surfaces in and around the ports inside the intake.

What would be a good dremal attachment to get up into the runners and pendulum?

I didn't think you can get very deep into any of the runners with a dremel?

i just did some work on my heads for the '81 with a dremel that kicked butt. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ghlight=dremel
one of the dremels i have, i've attatched the flexible extention. i can see getting 4-6" into a relatively straight port with it and the right attatchment.
the industrial tool shop i got alot of stuff from carries an sanding roll arbor for dremels that's probably 3-4" by itself.
since i don't know from personal experience how deep you could get into a stock manifold, i wouldn't know how far you can truly reach but i would guess it would be possible to get all the way up to the curve.
i would just be cautious of material removal in a composite manifold.
