I think you should try to find a car with them to try out first. From what I have seen, that kit makes you open the door a little, then swing it up. To close it, you pull it down, then open it all the way to get enough swing to slam the door, which to me is assinine. It doesn't simply swing up like a real Lamborghini, you basically add the swing motion on to the normal open/shut of the door. I think the reason people are saying its gay is because it serves no real purpose other than looking different.
Not exactly my thing, but Z06-JIM one of the well respected members of this forum has them on his car. And I have to admit I think his car is the best looking car on this entire forum! Jim's car is an awesome machine and is definitely NOT gay!

Saying that someone's car is gay is GAY. Molten's vette looks great! Just cause it's not your cup o' tea doesn't make it any less desirable in someone else's eyes. Lambo doors aren't for me but I still can recognize a good looking car when I see one, and Molten's is one. Differnent strokes for different folks people.
<---thought it would be fun to stir the thread up a little.
Honestly, it's just racer vs waxer mentality. A lot of us (see autocrossing/roadracing section) drive and modify these cars for performance, and if the mod doesn't make it faster, you're wasting your time. The cars is a piece of automotive engineering, not an ornament.
I know there are others who are just happier keeping their car in the garage and making sure it's clean and pretty. Maybe throw a supercharger on and hit and off ramp a few times..lol. I think the car show/parking lot pimp crowd and racers are two crowds on opposite side of the spectrum, and imitation lambo doors are a mod that leans very heavily to the waxer mindset, which will likely lead to rolled eyes from the performance minded crowd.
i like it and wanna do it but, i heard the door's are really flimsey and wobble when they are up is that true?? or are they stable and firm
depends on the kit you get i (45 or 90) the 45 tend to be a little more stable but are harder to close you have to hold the door to close it the 90 degree kits, mines anyway close automatically(gravity) once you let them go. i actually drive with mines up in parades only 2-3mph and theyre pretty stable not as stable as some of thew 45degree kits like the verticle doors inc..the important thing to remember is you usually get what you pay for. ive had 2 on my car tried to be cheap and it wound up costing more in the end.
the kit i have now cost about 3200.00 installed im sure theyre cheaper now but when i got mines there werent a lot of shops putting 90degree doors on vettes.
also im not just into show im into speed also but i dont think you should have to choose one or the other.as soon as i get my car back from im gonna attempt to put these e-bay longtubes on with hi-flo cats then mabye nitrous.
A good company to order from is scissor-doors.com. they are a manufacturer of kits instead of the middle man and have quality stuff. I believe the kit runs $699.99. check it out and Rog is the man to talk to. hope this helps. and dont listen to the GAY comments, its ur ****. do whatever.
i daily drive my vet, and yet its got some miles on it, but i still wax it like once a week. I can't drive a dirty vet. I wash mine all the time and take care of it, but it has scratches and stuff. i would just be afraid to using those doors alot like I do. I get in and out of this car alot every day and what not, so I don't see doing this. Those vetts above are hott though. If I had the money, mine would be done up like that too.
I guess they really need a "frilly pretty car" section. Everyone could post about their paint techniques, mortgage breaking rims, import doors, and cool cup holders.
