Just put a Carroll Supercharger on my car....1999 FRC.........since they don't seem to want to help their customers after spending 8000.00 maybe someone else can.........I left several messages for Mr Carroll himself and have not received a reply yet :mad :mad :mad The car has some detonation on the high end.....does anyone know what the highest octane I can run in the car ? Maybe this would help ? the air/fuel mixture seems fine on the laptop. Hope to get it to the track this weekend.
I don't know the most intricate specifications, but one of the reasons I stayed away from Carrol Superchargers is the fact that they don't use an intercooler. If you are blowing hot air down your intake it may be heating the motor and causing detonation. I do know for a fact that when your motor gets too hot it will detonate. The LS1/6 being all aluminum dissapates alot of heat, that is why it likes the wet shot of N02. I will say that I think the Carrol Supercharger looks the best installed. They should definetly be call you back, if for any reason just customer service.
Sorry to hear about your problem. I agree it gets frustrating dealing with the lady on the phone, (Sheryl I think ). I told her when I was ordering my system that wanted to speak with him and unless I spoke to him I would call back every ten minutes. I do not know if this will help but with my system, which does include the gaseous injection, they recommend increasing changing the gap to make it cooler. Just and idea...
My car just was fired up on Saturday, I'll post if I have any issues! Good Luck...

Please NOTE that their website is down switching servers and should be up soon. You can call Geoff at 847 228 7256 more info. He really stands behind his cars and gives good customer service.
Reprogramming of the PCM is a standrd part even with Carrolls kit. The wild card is if you changed something from what the PCM was expecting;, you ordered a stage 1 kit and when it was reprogrammed it is not accounting for an aftermarket exhaust and air intake.
I was VERY VERY concerned about this when I purchased my system and did a lot of research with Nick at ARE, Mr. Carroll and Brian @ VetteWrench. I will see once my car is on the dyno. As I said before good luck
I have a carroll system and the car runs great! On the first run on
the dyno my car had a little detonation but still pulled 404 to the wheels.
After making adjustments the car has to be on a dyno do make these
correct adjustments. The correct fuel adjustments were made, no detonation
and 410 rear wheel hp. Also the reason there is no intercooler on carroll kit is
because his stage 1 is only 6 psi of boost, if intercooled you would have a power loss! Jeff at Performance Tech in Elk Grove installed mine. Most of the
intercooled superchargers run 7.5 to 10 psi! Thats why carroll's stage three
uses water injection with 9 psi! Don't panic your car just needs adjustments!
Let me know what happens!!!!!!!!! Jimmy O :smash:
viper8789, I hate when people don't call you back! It has been my experience with Greg Carroll that one needs to be persistant in their calling, you will get him. As Jimmy said you need to have it on a dyno with an experinced computer tuner to really get it right. Before you can tune the car you should make sure you have sufficient fuel pressure to go along with your increased air pressure. If fuel pressure is dropping off this will give you detonation. As far as water injection I heard this is ok but not as good as an aftercooler. I am presently adding a custom aftercooler and oil cooler to my Carroll kit as well as a smaller pulley for increased boost. The fuel system is very important on SC application. I had to add a boost-a-pump and rebuild my fuel pump to keep the steady flow of fuel, not to mention 42# injectors.
Stay focused,
JB
viper8789,
I would also have to suggest that you call Geoff at Performance Tech Center. He definatly has the knowledge to help you and I know he has corrected a few of the Caroll kits. I can tell you that his kit on my car has performed flawlessly for over 10,000 miles. There is a lot to getting the PCM correct and Geoff seems to have it dialed in.
I have not been to the track yet because I am not sure I want to put in a rool bar yet. I am sure it will do well if I can get it to hook up.
You can reach Geoff at Performance Tech Center at 847-228-7256. PTC is located in Elk Grove Village, IL but he has serviced cars from across the country.
