I have an 04 vette with the Ls1, with around 6k miles on it, it's burning about 1 quart of oil about every 3000 miles. The dealer is trying to say this is normal ,i don't buy it. Is anyone else having this problem ? The car is still under warranty , but it is going to run out soon. Any help would be great .

Fear not, there are many a Vette here that burn more oil that are still running strong with well over 100K miles. Just watch the dipstick and don't worry about it....that's my advice.

Maybe the engine will just happend to blow up before the warrenty is out.
i bought my 01 with 22000 miles.
it was full when I drove it home from Texas. a week after I got it, the low oil was displayed. I went to see my engine machinist friend. He said probably 5 years old, and 22,000, it was not properly broken in.
He recommended driving it like a old man's buick for 2500 miles.
I added another quart again at 1200 miles later so I tried it. I was gentle on it, the next time I checked it, it was 1/2 quart in 1200 more miles. total 3200 miles since I bought it, it has 27,000 miles and no more adding oil.
My friend said if you hot rod it all the time, the rings will seat, but it takes about 50,000 miles for the rings to seat in.
try it, it worked for me.
use shift points of 2600 RPM, do it for 1500 miles, check the oil, and i'll bet the level is only down 1/2 as much as before
I would be satisfied with a car that only used 1 quart of oil between oil changes.
Also, the amount of oil consumed is directly related to how much the car is run at high RPMs.
Since when is 1 quart of oil in 3000 miles a problem? I never would expect it on any car. They all have to use some oil to keep operating correctly.

sounds like you work for GM. I go oil change to oil chage, as determined by the DIC, and I never have to add oil. However, when I road race I will use oil when I exceed 100mph - 1/2 to a quart depending on the course. But everyday DD never uses any oil.

Your engine may be built to excessively tight tolerances, which best case, robs you of horsepower, and worst case, may cause your engine to seize. That's why you're not using any oil.
Since it's your DD, be especially careful in the wet; if the engine seizes, it will also casue the rear wheels to lockup -- you will skid if you don't immediately push in the clutch.
Remember, our cars suck alot of oil into the intake via the PCV setup. I know my catch can is catching between 1/4 & 1/2 a quart every oil change, and I am a nut and change my oil every 2200 miles! If you go longer, the can will catch that much more oil. Anyway the point I am trying to make is that all the oil being consumed is not getting past the rings and such.
