My steering column started squeaking several months ago and it's now at the pint that it's irritating the h*** out of me. It squeaks when the steering wheel is turned both right and left. I've removed the kick panel and tried to get lithium grease around the white bushing that surrounds the steering column about half way down it's length. That had no effect at all.
There's a tech tip about this but I couldn't find anything around the steering column that looked like that picture.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated as it's making me .
My noise is by the rear of my steering wheel as well.It almost seem to me that the back of the steering wheel is rubbing somewhere on the telescoping extender panel. Where exactly did you spray the SH** out of it with WD 40. I'm about ready to rip the steering wheel off with my bare hands. Thanks for your advise...BADDOG
I have a 97 that squeeks up by the steering wheel but since it has got cold in ohio it has quit. but i know when the weather warms again it will start again so if anybody knows where to spray this i am all ears.
