Default Disc brake calipers...

In order to have great short distance stopping power for a street machine that will not be used at the track but have the ability to stop 60-0 in 100 ft or less by installing extra large 6 and 4 piston calipers with appropriate master cylinder on the stock rotors and caliper mounts?
Has anyone done this?
Is it bolt on? Or are new custom caliper mounts required?
This is assuming 18" wheels F&R.

big calipers are used to handle heat. The limiting factor in your stoping distance is not the calipers, it's the tires. Assuming that your brakes are strong enough to lock up the wheels/engage ABS, more powerful brakes aren't going to do you any good.

-If you want a shorter stopping distance, get better tires.

-If you're having problems with heat upgrade the fluid for a soft pedal or the pads if the pedal stays firm, but you doesn't generate friction. Also put some air ducts in to cool things off.

-If you're at a point where the caliper body itself is starting to deform, then you "need" a bigger caliper.

...but to answer your question, StopTech, AP Racing, Wilwood, and Brembo all offer kits for a C5. Generally, the pistons are sized so that they will work with the OEM Master and come with the correct mounts. Most of them do use 14" rotors so you'll need an 18" wheel with enough backspacing. The brakes I've got on mine are the LGM/Wilwood kit with the SL-6R calipers and they will work with OEM sized rotors and will fit under the OEM Z06 wheels.
