Right now I am running pirreli p-zeros(295 35 18's and 265 40 17's)their the ones with the yellow "p-zero" on them, I dont know what their called. I was gonna get the new rosso's but they only come in 265 35 18's for the back and I dont know what to go with for the backs. My question is should I get them even though I'd be going smaller(I already smoke them off the line if not careful) or should I stay with what I have. I herd the rosso's had better dry traction but would I be loosing out by going smaller or would it not make that much of a difference. I need as much grip as possable(whatever, I cant spell)
appreciate any help, thanks
adam
I am not a tire expert but I wouldn't put a 265 on my car. The tire will be stretched over the 9 inch rim and raction will surely suffer. Get some new skins all the way around and be done with it. I recommend the Bridgestone S03's. These ROCK!!!!!
I am getting new skins all the way around and I presently have 265's on the front and the car handles great. My main question was will I suffer traction loss going from 295's to 265's in back even though the new tires are suppost to be stickier.

You probably wouldn't see a huge traction difference, but it would look stupid. Plus, your tire would not bead properly unless you went with a smaller width wheel. I'm not understanding your fascination to go with a smaller tire.
If the rear tires are not racing tires, they won't be noticeably stickier - especially if they are a smaller size. The 35 series has less wrinkle than the 40 series would have, so I think they would be probably be less sticky than the stock size.
Re: tire experts, I need some advice (Mike Schriber)
You'll get the best performance from the tire that best fits on the size wheels you are using. Get in touch with the manufacturer's tech line. They can tell you what size is optimum for your wheels. Tires are made differently, and the best size will vary by brand. The sizes GM picked were based on multiple factors, not just performance. I.E. alliance with Goodyear, noise, tramlining, ride harshness, etc. IN GENERAL TERMS: If you go with a wider tire with a lower aspect ratio it will give better lateral acceleration (cornering power) but will have more ride harshness and will tramline worse than a narrower tire. :seeya
Thanks for the advice. I'm not interested in getting smaller tires just the rossos but they dont come in 295's so I will probably just get the same ones I have now.
