Heard this on a "car talk radio show" and gave it a try. To clean the brown slime from in the "surg tank" - - remove the tank from the car, put some hot tap water in, and squirt in some Lysol Toilet bowl cleaner. Let it sit for a little while, then shake it around to loosen the slime. I did this today and it worked quite well. I tried Dawn Liquid dish soap and that didn't cut the stuff loose.
Just thought this might help those of you who want to get the inside of the surg tank clean. On many cars you can get some sort of brush in there to help break the slime loose. On the Vette tanks you can't get anything in there so shaking the solution back and forth for awhile will eventually get it all out.
BE CAREFUL using bathroom cleaners on plastic!! Lysol toilet cleaner contains hydrochloric acid and is specifically designed for toilets only.
Some bathroom cleaners contain some harsh chemicals that I have seen crack plastics.
