Default Advise On Jack & Jackstands

A couple questions before I buy a jack and stands.....

Is there a specfic jack that is low enough to lift my stock height coupe without having to drive up onto something?

Any specific jack / jackstands you recommend or features would be appreciated.

Thanks Al

I just picked up a set of stands from the local Harbor Fright store for about $25. They are 6 ton and are more than solid enough for working on the Vette.

As for a jack, I'm also looking and would like to hear what others have to say

Can you slide this jack under the front of the car and lift under the crosssmember without driving up on boards? Thanks, Greorge

yes, but I usually drive up on 2x6's to avoid marking up the plastic deflector

I plan on lifting from the crossmembers as well.

I'm not sure but I thought that driving up on ramps would / could get in the way because I want to use the pucks in the frame method.

Looking for jackstands that mate well with the pucks.

I read something about a Craftsman low-profile jack awhile back. Thanks Al
