I'm trying to chase down a rattle under decelaration and a search indicated the stock H-pipe as a posible culprit.
My question is this; is an x-pipe a direct bolt-on behind the cats, or does it eliminate the cats altogether? And if it does remove the cats, what are the consequences? Thrown codes? Harm to motor?
Thanks guys, I'm at my wits end trying to find this rattle.
My rides a 02z with no warranty left.
An x-pipe is not a direct bolt-on. You will need to mark the existing h-pipe and cut them off to correspond with the x-pipe you buy. The cuts are made behind the cats, so that is not an issue. (I had photos taken during the installation of my x-pipe, but I didn't think they were very good, so I deleted them - sorry)
I'V done the spring fix (which by the way were making noise) and I'v done the O2 sensor fix, which were also rattling.
SOB this car makes weird noises.
