i never thought i could do it but just right now a suzuki 600 lined up next to me at a red light and began to rev his bike out. when the light changed green he hit it and then i took off after him. he was right on my front right wheel and then i actually began to pass him. at like about 110 he was by my passenger door and i let off. i think most heavily modded m6's would have killed him right away at top end. although it was just a 600 i never thought a modded C5 could actually kill your typical crotch rocket
Re: anyone here can kill crotch rockets? (levrac68)
OH BOY, here we go!!!! Rob please, don't start this debate between car and bike. IT"S BEEN BEATEN to a pulp. Alot of 600's like the CBRF4i, GSXR, R6 and ZX6's are running anywhere from mid to high 10's and top speeds are around 160+ range. I'M NOT SAYING BIKES ARE NOT BEATABLE but most cars that are streetable will have a tall task to beat these bikes. I'm not doubting you kept up or started to pass a 600 but when you get to the bigger bikes you'll have more trouble. Also most guys with bikes also mod them just like US car guys. BTW just for info Rob, saw a guy with a bike like mine (GSXR1000) bone stock run 9.7@145, and mine is no longer bone stock :D . :boxing So let me when you want to run against my sister's bone stock Honda CBR600F4i (red/white). Oh and Rob stop racing down MT Prospect Ave , your looking for trouble. Save it for the track or Rt 21 maybe even Ave P.

First of all, whoever says this bike and that bike is a 10 second bike, sure, in the nands of an expert rider.
Who really thinks the average rider on the street can take a bike like like and run it even close to it's potential? :nono:
And as SW about beating bikes, I am sure he has a few stories (1100s included).
Re: anyone here can kill crotch rockets? (Mag Red Monster)
If any of these bikes have a half-way skilled rider on them...no way. I watch them run every weekend, and even a 600 (if its a late model crotch rocket) will beat us. Not worth the danger of the run.

I'm gonna hafta jump in here and say a little... I know for a FACT my old 96 CBR600 would not run no 10 in the 1/4!! The best I EVER managed in the 1/8th was 7.70 @ 89MPH. I figured MAYBE a high 11 - mid 12 in the 1/4. And I KNOW how to ride.
BTW, I would LOVE to see a GSXR run 9.7 @ 145 STOCK!!!
I know the guy in front of me was not gunning it out of the hole, but when he looked back a second later he sure fired her up. I just kept my foot down and stayed close behind.

A C4 guy Checking in :D
A couple of years ago I was having a lot of luck against some bikes. I was beating 600's and keeping up with a couple 700's. Than coming home from work one day I raced a ninja ZX something. It was large and had 2 mean looking hoses in the front for air inlets.
We start going from about 40 or 50, I am hanging right with him, I am thinking that I am a badass, he than looks over, waves good-bye, puts his head down and twisted his wrist. He pulled on me like I was cruising at 50 (we were doing about 120 when this happened) it was incredible to watch. Needless to say I was humbled, but with a smile on my face.
I had an '86 VFR700, slow compared to today's standards.
A 600 Race Rep in the hands of a skilled pilot can run 0-60 in 2.9 to 3.3 sec with 10.6 sec 1/4s
A 1000 Race Rep in the hands of a skilled pilot can run 0-60 in 2.5 to 2.7 sec with 10.0 sec 1/4s
A full on race 750 with a skilled pilot can run 0-60 in 2.3 sec with low 9 sec 1/4s.
So if you killed a guy on a race rep, he was either afraid, smart, or unskilled.

If you've got enough road, just keep going. I doubt he can reach the 185 MPH top end on a C5 and you'll eventually catch up. ;)
Re: anyone here can kill crotch rockets? (TLewis4095)
My Harley is modded quite a bit and it's one of the lighter Harleys but still heavy for a bike. It will run low 12s but won't go past 120. I think it would be an interesting race against a C5. :boxing
I figured MAYBE a high 11 - mid 12 in the 1/4. And I KNOW how to ride.
:
well i just came back from etown with my best of 12.147 1/4mile. if some 600's do run mid 12's like you say then i'm in their league. not bad for an automatic! :D
Re: anyone here can kill crotch rockets? (robsvette)
NICE RUN ROB, CONGRATS BABY.
2000^C5, An expert rider would be someone like Ricky Gadson who can propel his ZX6R to a 10.39@130 and a not so expert guy on same bike will go 10.7's. Your right that are ALOT of guys who can't ride their bikes to full potential, but are some guys who are not expert drag racers that can run 10's with their bikes (depending on model, etc) Now as for the part included about SW's car, I didn't say bikes are unbeatable. But just think about the money spent so cars like that can run with the big liter bikes that are mostly stock or mildly modded. Case and point most Hayabusa's, ZX12's and GSXR1000 are in the 9's stock.
J99FRC, give me your address so I can send you a video that MY00C5 has of a GSXR1000, bone stock running 9.7's 9.8's several times. I think with the same power to weight ratio as a Indy car this bike should not have any probs doing this. I spoke with the owner and he still had the no plates and the bike had 1000miles on it. As for your 96 CBR600 running low 11's, which 5yrs ago was pretty amazing, is correct. 96 600's ranged from low to mid 11's, depending on rider and other variables. The new CBR600F4i and it's competition are running in the range of mid to high 10's.
Look I'm not disputing that there are cars out there that can whip a bike, but think about what has to be done to car to accomplish this. And for those who talk about top speed I'm pretty sure that most big liter bikes will get to their top speed within a shorter distance and time than most cars. Most guys aren't going to continue traveling at 180mph for a couple minutes waiting for some car to come past them. Well anyway enough about this Bike Vs Car thing.
