Goodmorning,
Does anybody know what this is and can it be added to a C5?
I posted this question on the Tune page but only got one response, so asking it here, and there is nothing in the search either.
The GTOs have the capability to add this as they have it in Europe and I have seen claims of 500+ hp and 32 mpg with the Lean Cruise added to the tune.
From everything I have seen and read, Lean Cruise is only enabled on GM export cars and Holdens, Opels, etc. It's there in the menu tree on EFILive just taunting you, but you can't turn it on.
It is illegal in the USA as to EPA rules and you cannot simply turn it on since GM has a jump routine in the PCM software on American cars so it is not used.

I thought your O2's aim for a "lean cruise" by default when you're in closed loop and crusing along at part throttle? At WOT you go to 12-13:1....otherwise its running at 14-18:1
Are you saying they run it even leaner than that? Regardless, we're getting close to 30mpg on the highway for most people...why mess with it? Want to give a corolla a run for its money?
You can do lean cruise with a custom operating system with efi live. I tried it on my z06 with h/c and bolts ons and didnt see a big increase so I went back to 14.68 at cruise and still get 30+mpg with 400+rwhp.

US cars shoot for an AFR ration of ~14.6:1. Under light load (cruise) your engine can safely run leaner. AFRs of ~17:1 are used in other parts of the world. 14.6 isn't a magical number, is just happens to be chemically correct and produces the least amount of by-products when used in conjunction with a cat.
