I need to replace my clutch, and I am thinking of going with the Z06 clutch for now. I asked in another post what the process is to replacing the clutch, and it sounds difficult but doable.
I have been looking at some pics about the install, and the only difficult part looks to be with dropping the rear end. Are there any websites that show a step by step look at the install?
Is there any alignment needed after the install? Is the torque tube the driveshaft? Is the clutch slave the throw-out bearing? Sorry guys I am mustang guy.I want to do the swap during x-mas break when I don't have school.
I would personally not do it without a lift, especially having seen it done multiple times on my car. I know people have done it but It takes about 5 hours min. with a lift and an experienced tech. If you do decide to takle this project I would strongly recommend watching someone do it first, maybe at a dealership.
I did one a couple weeks back. A lift is not a must. What is a must is a good low profile transmission jack. Do not attempt this using trolly jacks or racing jacks to support the transmission. Given the size of the tranny + diff + TQ tube its far to awkward. Go buy a tranny jack and attack it. It wasnt that hard....just time consuming.
