I've just installed the unit from C5 Solutions on my 97 6spd. Since the install, I have to do the C5 meditation routine ("PULL KEY - WAIT 10 SECS" ) at every startup, after which the car starts and runs fine. I hadn't experinced the column lock problem prior to install -- I installed the CLB in hopes of avoiding the problem!
I've done all the fuse-pulling (and even battery-pulling) procedures, and the problem persists. Searching through the forum archives, I've found a few more C5Solutions CLB messages from others who have had the same problem, even with the CLB being replaced by C5 Solutions several times.
Might I have better luck with another brand, or is this problem possible with *all* CLB's? Is there another problem?

Please Note> I'm not trying to bash C5 Solutions. The instructions were clear, the hardware appears to be of good quality, and the install went perfectly. I just don't want to hassle them if this is a problem with ALL units, or if there is something else I can do.
I've been hearing alot about this "Pull Key...wait 10 seconds" that I have held off on installing mine now for nearly 6 months (purchased it just before my C5 arrived).
Even though I'm currently experiencing some difficulty, I would also recommend installing it. (Tom@C5solutions knows the true meaning of "Customer Service" and is currently working with me to resolve my issue. THANKS TOM! ).
Yes, some cars have the annoying "Pull Key" problem, but the install is quick, non-permanent, and does not require cutting any wires.
Try it, and *if* you have a problem, decide then whether you want to keep it or not.
Mine works great. I waited and got bit by column lock. I wish I would have installed it right away, but I waited for all this recall stuff to shake out. Now I am glad I am not on the recall list.
I wonder if the unlocking procedure with the cig lighter adaptor has something to do with the DIC messages some people are getting. I held the two wires against the connector and had my wife plug in the adaptor. This way I did not have any arcing while fumbling with the wires. Just a thought.
I have seen the "pull key wait..." a few times with my unit from C5 solutions but have not had any problems starting/driving etc..., I think you may have got one of the faulty units where as mine just botches up every once in a while.
