I have a 2001 Z06 with the following mods
tsp stage 2.5 ls6 heads
LG g5x1 cam 228-232 578 581 114
TPIS headers hi, flow cats and xpipe
stock ti catback
ls6 intake
stock tb
vararam intake
ls7 clutch
dte stage II rear with 3.90 gears
dyno tube
max numbers
414hp 373tq
any thoughts?
I really wanted a lot more TQ and a few more hp.
420/400 and i would have been really happy.
You are 98% of your HP and 93% of your TQ 'happiness goal'. That is still a solid 'A' on my grading scale. Looks like a killer street combination. How's it run? Tom
I wonder how much the 3:90s hurt you on the dyno. The important thing is how it drives and feels on the street. Sometimes wierd things happen on the dyno, at least thats been my experience.
Good luck and enjoy the power.
I made 422/398 sae with stage IIx 5.3 heads and a much smaller (218/218, .561"/.561", 114 LSA) cam. The small things make a difference: No cats on 3" midpipe, underdrive accessory pulley, self ported TB, and an aluminum lightweight flywheel. With these additional mods I'd bet you'd be at 435/410
somthing does seem off i have just about the exact cam, G5X1-E but with AFR 205 milled to 59cc. along with very similar other bolt-on's and made 458/423....see sig for specific bolt-on's
I would like to blame the headers for your low TQ numbers. I am selling my TPIS' and getting LG's. The TPIS were awsome when they came out in the late 90's but not so much anymore. Should pick up 10-15RWHP and 15-20 RWTQ with some LG's or AR headers!
Congrats on your new combo, I bet she is great to drive!!
You got the right stuff. But, I see you have a Vararam. They do bad things to A/F. Have you checked out a datalog?

One or two explanations on your torque shortage could be 1. Not enought compression. 2. Low DCR caused by cam design. Do you know what the heads (or if?) were milled to? What head gaskets were used, etc. to find overall compression.
heads are 64cc
they have a little bit bigger valves than stock.
i think they are 2.04 and 1.62?
stock head gaskets.
at the dyno we got the A/F to around 13

so i guess i should do a compression check?
No, if you were leaking compression, there would be less HP as well. It's kind of a matter of valve events and dynamic compression. You're setup should have right at 10.5-1 static CR. Also your cam could have been installed slightly retarded. Some times that gives you slightly higher peak HP #'s at the expense of torque. Did you degree the cam when you installed it?
