Tranny AND Drag Package ????
So I am about to pick up another vette, got out of the scene for about 2 years after I sold both Z06's. Now I am looking to pick up a cheap 97 C5 to turn into a race care.....I want it to be an auto but who makes a very strong and durable auto tranny for the C5's? I need something to hold up to atleast 1,000HP!!!!
And 2nd I was wondering if they make a CCW package that has a 15inch rim. All I have been able to fine are 16's.....I have 2 f-body's now and I know you have to do a lil grinding inorder to put a 15 inch slick on, but what has to be done to put a 15 inch slick on the vettes? ANd if you can do it does CCW make that package?

CCW does not make a 15" wheel for the C5
In order to fit a 15" wheel on the C5 you need to change out the brake system to something smaller. REDGAR in the drag race section did it to his car and he is now running 15" Bogart wheels. Hope I answered all of them.

You can't put a 15" slick on a C5 without backhalving the car at this point. You can fit 15" skinnies up front by using rear calipers in place of the the fronts.
As for a tranny to hold 1000HP+, it's not going to be a 4L65E unless you feel like having it rebuilt after every race day.
The Vette Doctors have put a T400 in the rear of the car mounted to the stock rear end carrier in a couple of thier cars. Each of them was/is around 1000rwhp. Otherwise, you'll have to backhalf the car.

Thanks guys, so what is the fastest corvette that is street legal running for rear wheels? The only reason I want the 15's is because I have a bigger selection of tires and I have more sidewall vs a 16'' wheel......my goal is to be the fastest street legal vette in my area.....my speed shop guy has already obtained the 2nd fastest street legal F-Body. And I would like to be right up there bside hime with the vette. Thanks guys for your input, if you guys have any other advise please let me know. Thanks
