Default Memory seat issues

My memory seats have a mind of their own. I press the button or rather just get in and start the car and the seat typically goes to the right position, but the mirrors will be off. I hit the button again and it seems to straighten itself out. Has anyone had this problem?

My '01 6sp vert does something similar - with adjusting the driver seat for easy access when I've disabled that feature in "preferences". Don't know what's up with that.

well thats what I"m talking about, I get in, start the car, the seat moves like it should, but a lot of times, either the seat doesn't move all the way up or the mirrors don't move quite right and I need to hit the button.

My 2001 does the exact same thing. Probably every other time I unlock the car with the key fob. Not sure why. I also have the easy access disabled.

Must have something to do with the '01s. Once in a while mine will move all the way foward as soon as I turn the key. After I reset the memory, it's good for a while.

Maybe someone will have an answer on the forum.

Hmmm? I have a 02 and had very similar problems. I just started from scratch, adjust seat and mirrors, pressed and held Mem#1 for 15secs and the problem seemed to go away. But there are still times when I get in and the Mem does nothing until I press the Memory button. But I did notice that the Memory works Every Time when I Lock and Unlock my car with the Keyfob.

My 02 Z06 did the same nonsense, it drove me crazy! Finally it was either replace the seats with classy manual ones or disconnect the #4 fuse, I opted for the more affordable choice.

That's exactly the way it's designed to work. You either have to use the correct fob that you've set the memory to, or press the correct memory button. Just putting the key in doesn't do anything for the memory. You have to tell it which memory to use by either the fob or the button on the door. Press the fob before you use the key, even if the door is unlocked and the memory function will work when you insert the key.

well to be clear, the memory function is working, its just not moving the things to the correctly position. I have reprogrammed it lots of times but it still does it. Not every time, but probably 50% of the time.

I've got a similar problem w/ my '01 - I attributed it to other things, but apparently mine may be normal -

Just the other day I got in my 01, and it seemed like I was sitting kind of high. I moved the seat lower like it was supposed to be. Then I got bored later that day and checked codes. I had a code for Vertical seat height sensor !! Must have been a temp glitch, because it works 99% of the time.

PS. When I get out of my car in the garage and dont lock the car, after I open the door to get out I hit the unlock button (fob) then close the door. So that.....
1. To turn off my window valet (no need to have my tools in the garage listening to the radio)
2. When I get back in it in the morning I put the key in and close the door and the seats move to the mem position. (or you could just hit the unlock on the fob every time no matter what and the mem will work.)

I understand yours, I was replying to Rocket02's response. Just stating the way it's designed. Once you've set your memory, and you don't change it while you're driving, it should go back to that when you press the fob or button. If yours doesn't, obviously something is not right. Sorry, but I don't know which module controls that, or if it's worth the money to you to change it out. Could be grounds, battery voltage, lots of possibilites.

What i found with mine is if I get in and start the car before everything has reached it's memory position then I have to push the memory button to complete the move to the preset position. If I am not in a hurry and wait when I get in and install the key then it will go to the set position.

Default memory

Each key fob has its OWN memory. For 97-00 there are 3 settings.
1 2 and 3 corresponds to when you learned the fobs. If you are the ONLY driver set all MEMORY options the same. If your spouse or someone else drives then the settings WILL BE DIFFERENT. To set 1 or two press and hold the memory buttons till the light flashes on the left door switch panel. To set three hold BOTH buttons 1 and 2 at the same time till both LEDs flash. BIGHANK
