Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (Godspeed)
I emailed FLP today and here was the responses I received:
Jeremy,
They are about 3 weeks from production and the kit will go for $1699.00.

FLP
Jeremy,
I forgot to mention that the first 25 paid orders will get them for $1299.00.

Jeremy,
That includes everything you see on the webpage, there are complete pictures of the system there. Cats, off roads, simms, and the x-pipe are included. The cats and off roads can be switched back and forth in less time than it takes to jack up your car. The initial testing was done with a 2.75 collector and yielded 21 rwhp and 27 rwtq. We changed the design to a 3 collector and have yet to dyno a car with the mod. Should only be better.
Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (TAMUz28)
I really like the design and ability to quickly and easily swap in the off road pipes or cats. Considering it comes with cats (200.00) the pricing isn't that off from their competitors. I'm just searching for the perfect header for my new LS6 422.
Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (West Coast Corvette)
The F-Bodies don't come with that intermediate pipe with built in X-Pipe, they come with Headers, cats, off road pipes and a y-pipe, that's it. More material in the C5 one. Dan is a great guy and is always willing to help out!
why is it so muchthough? 1699? I can get long tubes and an XPipe from MTI for 1095. They are marking it up 600 dollars for just the cats and offroad pipes. Another thing they are forgetting..the Corvette doesn't come with a jack and the pipes run down the middle of the car, the ease of going from offroad to emissions compliant isn't FBODY easy.
Plus , unlike the fbody, there are long tube header alternatives for the Corvette.
Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (Nilla Ice)
Nilla:They come with a quick change V type flange that allows them to be swapped, once the car is jacked up,within 15 minutes.I'm thinking about them seeing ther shop is located right down the street from the shop I deal with(The Vette Wrench).

F-body LS1's have the choice of FLP's, SLP's, and Grot LT's off the top of my head. I think there are a few others.

When the FLPs hit the market only the Greedyhands were available and even then scarce to come by. The SLPs just hit the market, right?
$1,200 dollars for the FLPs compared to the greedyhands and SLP headers is a decently fair price compared to the alternatives, but $1,700 compared to $1,100 is not. I could buy the TPIS alternative and add a cam for that 1700 price and produce more horsepower. But that's just the old Fbody guy coming out in me...

Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (Godspeed)
Just wanted to add that I am very happy with the A4 racing tranny FLP built and istalled for me as well as their install of my heads, cam, TPIS and Ls6 intake :D
Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (Godspeed)
I've been waiting for these headers to come to market. FLP makes a nice product, there's no doubt. But I honestly have to say that the pricing that they're listing is VERY disappointing. The $1299 price point is about what I figure the market will pay for them. $1699 is absurd.
Don't get me wrong, FLP makes fantastic headers. I've seen the F-body ones and recently some Impala ones up close too so I've witnessed first-hand the quality.
But you show me where there's a $600 difference in materials or cost between the F-body setup and the C5 setup and I'll poopie you a gormet dinner.
To me, it looks like another case of trying to milk the Corvette community of that perceived extra disposable income. I frown upon this. It may fit the mold of free enterprise, but it doesn't fit the mold of good ethics.
I welcome the new headers, I'm sure they'll be as good as I can imagine. I will eventually purchase some. At $1200 I would purchse them. At $1700, I won't. TPIS is a smarter alternative. I hope I'm wrong, I hope that FLP does the $1299 thing.
Re: Finish Line Performance C5 Header Kit (Godspeed)
I am going to order them tomorrow because of the special pricing.
You can't beat a $400 dollar discount!! I am itching for a converter, and i know it will yeild a better gain but if i don't do this now I wouldn't ever get that setup at full blown retail.
I am looking forward to being able to switch the cats in and out, I love the sound sometimes, but after awhile i get tired of it then want it again.
