In the past I found a thread where someone had posted how he had modified his stock shifter by cutting off nearly the entire stick and welding on a bolt. Anybody rember seeing this thread? I did a search with no luck.

If you cut the threads off the top part and weld it to the bottom, it comes out about the same height as just cutting an inch off the original threads. Some people just use a bolt with 9/16 -18 threads, and weld that to the top instead of re-using the original threads.
