Default Why not use lowering springs?

I am curious why nobody does this on the C5? On my previous cars, the move was to buy an eibach prokit or sportline kit to get the desired drop without modification to the suspension. The prokit worked out for years on my Z28 without incident. Why not on the C5?

C5's use transverse leaf springs. The height of the suspension is controlled by the length and adjustments of the bolts at the end of the leaves.

You really cant make a lowering spring for a C5 unless it is part of a coil spring conversion. If that was the case you would want adjustable coil overs.

Lowering springs really dont make sense on our cars :yesnod:

Makes sense to me. Thanks! I guess I have never really looked at the suspension on the C5.....all I know is that it handles WAY better than any f-body I have ever driven (including modified). VERY predictable and manageable at the limit! :yesnod: :D

The springs on your vette are transverse leaf, the springs in your Z28 were coils. There is a big difference as to how they are manipulated to achieve an overall lowering of the car. The one thing I found when I sold my WS6 and bought a Z06, is that you are in complete control of what you want out of lowering your vette. In an f-body you buy the springs, have them installed, and what you get is literally what you get. In a vette, you can tweek your bolt bushing assembly to get it to lower. If you don't like the end result, you are by no means stuck with it, you can easily reverse the process some or all of the way, and get the car to come back up if necessary.
