Do a search. I know there is a post with pics on exactly how to do clutch job. I have done rwd clutches in the past and just a couple of months ago I replaced the clutch in my fwd Toyota. That fwd was a real witch! I don't know about Corvette clutch pricing but the Toyota clutch kit was $99. I am thinking the Corvette would be easier than those fwd. I did see a pic on the Corvette drivetrain and it all comes out as one unit I believe.
I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THE Z06 CLUTCH, ALL I KNOW IS NEVER BUY IT FROM THE DEALER!!!!!!!! THE CLUTCHES I DO KNOW: CENTERFORCE DUAL FRICTION H.D(MY CLUTCH)=$450.00, LuK STAGE II=$850.00.
EXEDY SINGLE DISC CLUTCH=$1700.00, EXEDY TWIN DISC=$2200.00
THESE ARE ALL GREAT CLUTCHES BUT I HAVE/LOVE THE CENTERFORCE, IT HAS STOCK FEELING ENGAGEMENT. IT'S BEEN HANDLING MY 530+RWHP/500LBFT TQ FOR ABOUT A YEAR OR SO NOW, WITH NOT ONE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE A FIDANZA 12.5 LB ALUMINUM FLYWHEEL WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! SINCE THE CLUTCH IS APART ANYWAY DURING INSTALL, MIGHT AS WELL THROW IN A FLYWHEEL. IT WILL SAVE $$
BEST OF LUCK
I have a quote stating 8 hours labor. So you're looking at about $800 in labor at a good shop.
Make sure you replace the master and slave. I think you'll be around $500 for the ls6 clutch and hydraulics etc.
You have to drop the rear end, transmission, and torque tube. Major work for a diy'er.
Make sure you search and read about the clutch horror stories on this forum. Trying to save a couple hundred bucks may not be worth the problems that could arise.
There is a local speed shop here that charges $450 for a clutch install. If you are going to add more power later or will drive your vette like a vette do NOT get a LS6 clutch.
I appreciate all the help. I agree for less than $500 dollars for an install. I will leave it to someone who knows what they are doing rather than a mediocre DIYer at best.
Anybody have any suggestions other than the LS6 clutch? How are Spec clutches.
Anybody (vendors) have a GP on a good (daily driver) clutch?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Changing a clutch is alot of work at least 8-9 shop hours, so expect $600+ labor cost. I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you are mechanically inclined and have a lift, it is alot of work. ECS has a GP on the Textraila. I got mine through them and absolutely love it. Give Chris a call, he took good care of me! Best of luck

That would be a sloooooow shop, I have personally seen a guy drop the cradle and torque tube in 1.5 hours and he said he was slow compared to a guy he knew. You can cut your estimate in half with a very experienced technician.

You guys are the greatest. Is there any way we can start a fleabay on mechanic who will work for the lowest wage per hour...just get more jobs than the one's who charge more?
You might want to talk to England Green and Connecticut. I believe they're in kahoots and are planning on doing work in Fla when enough people are lined up for it to be worthwhile for CT to fly down there. I know CT Corvettes (Steve aka Connecticut) is doing my clutch as we speak and many members have been pleased with his quality of work and lack of "Corvette Tax".

Yeah, like I said in the pm it took about four hours to do the last one I did in my shop. And that was with a few small breaks, but was also with one of my helpers that is very good and works well with me as a team.

actual time and billing time are two different things as we all know. GM service calls for 9 hours, and most shops will charge the same timeframe. if you can do better great, i was just giving factual information.

Yeah if I walk in a shop and they just quote a damn book I walk right back out. I got quoted close to 3K for heads, cam, and clutch install form one shop.....which is retarded, neeless to say they didn't get my business.
