Default Width of tires

I have a 99 and I am wondering what width of tire can fit on the back?

I have actually seen 315's on the stock rims but that is ridiculous. They didn't look too "comfortable" on the rims... You could get away with some 285's though.

What about 305s. That wouldnt be too bad would it. I am also worried about whether they would rub or not. I am looking into getting the nitto 555 drag radials and they only come in 275 or the 305.

How far are those sticking out in the rear? Mines tubbed and I run 12.5 and its maxed out!

I would say no more that 295 would be safe. your not going to gain any more traction. with the extra bit. I would say spend more on a better tire at a smaller size.

Actually the stock runflats are wide tires:

Here are the widths from Tire Rack:
The OEM Goodyear runflats are EXTREMELY WIDE for their size. The tread width is even wider than the 295 Z06 tires, here are the specs (tread width)
-Goodyear F1 GS EMT (275) 10.3 inches
-Goodyear Z06 (295) 10.2 inches
-Firestone (275) 8.6 inches
-Goodyear F1 GS D3 (275) 9.4 inches
-Goodyear F1 GS-2 EMT (285, 19 inch diameter) 9.2 inches

West Coast Corvettes has a few cars with the CCW big tire/wheel set-up on their web site photo gallery, take a look.

The C5 Z06 sizes will fit just fine on the wagon wheels and the thin spokes. 265/295.
