my cooling fans are all not turning on for some reson. i checked the fuses and there all good i grounded them and the fans turned on so i know they work. i think it is my computer so what should i do. temp. gets to 228 and then back to 195 and back and forth i also have a 172 thermostat.
that sounds like normal. if your fans were not working your temp would go way higher than that. even though you have a 172 therm your temp will still go high if your 2nd fan is not programmed to turn on sooner. the reason you see it go up past 220 is because that's when the 2nd fan turns on stock. then it brings your temp back down and shuts off. you must program the 2nd fan to turn on at like about 180-190.
in the winter you will most likely see it stay colder without reprogramming because of the cold air and the work of one fan would be enough with your low temp thermostat.
in the summer w/ac on and my 160 thermo and 180 2nd fan on programming i still see 200+ temps. a good aftermarket radiator should take care of that.
Nice explanation Rob.... some ppl think because they have a lower temp thermostat, they will see lower run temps.. all the thermostat does is open sooner it will not make th car run cooler.. a fan controller or programmer will help with the fan on conditions..
