My '99 vert did the same thing under a hard start the very first night I bought it. It seems that there a lot of things that can cause this problem. Dirty grounds (see sticky by Bill Curlee), bad EBCM, and wheel sensor problems to name a few. The crazy thing with mine is that the problem has just gone away for about 6 weeks now. I think mine is somehow water related as it disappeared when the rainy season was over and things dried up. Do a search and you will find a great deal of info relative to your problem. GOOD LUCK!
What year car? What codes do you see when you initiate the diagnostic sequence? Turn the key to ON and then push and hold the option button while depressing the fuel button 4 times to start the diagnostic. Nobody can help without some idea of the codes that have been thrown.

I just had the same problem. I also was pulling C1214. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the EBCM (under the extended warranty ). No more problems here.
My car has disabled active handling and is telling me to service active handling and ABS .
This happened after taking off fast. Does the computer need to be reset or should I take it to the dealer?
It happened to my 99 when it was a few months old, entering a tight corner at speed. The system wouldn't reset. I found a female pin that wasn't locked into the cannon plug and pushed out by the male pin during assembly, was making light contact until the high G corner. It was the wide, two?? row plug under the car. I found it with a volt/Ohm meter, but the missing pin might be seen with a light and good eyes, looking at the unpluged plug.

Most likely you need to replace the EBCM (module)...it controls A/H, T/C & ABS features. Fred Beans (CF vendor) or GM Direct parts sell new ones for approx. $650+UPS...takes 30 minutes to install (cold motor)..doubt your warranty reaches back to a 2002 model...check this out for details: E:\EBCM Fix\KLH-Racing - Active Handling, Traction Control, Antilock Brake System Info.htm and, if you let your dealer fix it, it should not be any more than one hour minimum labor + a $650 part charge..ie. don't let'em tell you otherwise !!
Definately sounds like an EBCM, I had to replace mine too - and so have MANY other members. Look around and see if you can find one used, I picked one up here for $300. Alternatively there is an eBay company that re-builds them for $375 and will hold a 5(I think) year warranty. Good luck either way!
