Default problems with longtubes?

if you live in a non smog zone, no checks, if you put on a set of longtubes, with the EGR and all still on the, what type of codes will you get, and problems will you encounter? Can you still keep the cats?

I had a dyno tune done when I installed the long tubes with the hi flow cats.

One of the benefits of doing the dyno tune is so they can take care of any codes/problems.

I have not had any issues after installation.

The Corvette has no EGR.
Yes, you can still keep your cats (go with hi-flow aftermarket cats)
You might need to have a tuner disable your rear O2's. Some of us get codes because the rear O2's are further back. O2 Sims will also work. I *think* most, if not all systems now have provisions for rear O2's.

To get the real benefit of headers, you really should get the car dyno tuned.

Other than that, a properly installed header/x-pipe/cat system will give you years of trouble-free use.

You won't regret it.

I have all of the above that you mentioned with the exception of a dyno tune..instead I have a street tune and the rear O2's disabled, but I have had a repeat CEL and code for the rear pass O2 sensor.
I do plan to have a dyno tune after having 1.8 rockers and 918 springs installed.
So do you think a dyno tune is the way to go to get the HP out of the LTs instead of a street tune?

So how bad would a set of lts and a x pipe hurt my clearance? Also, if you get rid of the cats would it show any more codes? If it has same amount of codes with as without I'd rather get em out

i didnt think you'd get a code if the rear o2 sensors have been disabled?

I went with the Bassani long tubes, they come ceramic coated at no extra cost. They fit perfect without any clearance problems. I hear running no cats you will get a fuel oder.. to avoid I'd would go with hi-flow cats. I was getting the CEL and code P0161 which is a bad O2 sensor passenger after cat. So I had the tuner delete the rear O2 sensors. I'm not sure it can be done with the '97 software, I had '98 software installed in my PCM.
Good luck

Hey Deno, I talked to Jesse at wait4me and he said he can delete the rear O2s on the 97. He also said that he can do anything to a 97 as he could with a 98
