Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (Als98C5)
If being technical? No you don't have a drive shaft loop. In fact you don't even have a drive shaft. You have a torque tube that is completely inclosed within a structural center tunnel of the car. Therefore it is impossible to drop the "shaft." :D
Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (Als98C5)
Al, Was this at Capitol? If so, they are just a little thick. After a run when I picked up my time slip, I was told they wanted to see me over at tech. I went over and this women asked if I had a driveshft loop. I said no, I don't need one since the entire driveshaft is inside a tube. She says, really? I went on to explain about the transmission in the rear of the car, etc. Then she says that she has a C5!!!
Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (gonbad)
The C-5 DOES have a drive shaft,it is in the drive tube...It is supported within the drive tube with a front and rear bearing...Highly unlikely it will ever come through the tube :D
Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (C-5 TECH)
Probably safer than the average loop. They need to hassel the 5.0 mustang crowd. I've seen far to many of these built up w/mods and still have the 4-lug rear hubs & no drive shaft loop. Scary when the rearend locks up because they threw a shaft.
Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (chuckster)
HI Chuckster,
Yes, I thought the dyno was a bit low for the mods I have, but it did dyno at 311rwhp. Took it to the track last night and ran 12.93 and 12.88 with the 18" BFG run flats. The 12.57 was on the 17" Drag radials I use at the track. I didn't feel like messing with them last night and was pleasently surprised with the two 12's
Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (Mag Red Monster)
Someone once posted that we could be required to have a loop around each rear axle, to prevent them from digging in if they broke. Seems pretty unlikely to me, does anyone know different?
Re: Does the Vette Need a Drive Shaft Loop? (chuckster)
Chuckster,
This dyno run was done at Lingenfelter's Shop........so I would say it was accurate. Maybe he shorted every one's numbers inorder to entice us to order his turbo package :jester Joking Actually I can't explain it.....just a combination of traction and great driving!
