I have a 405HP Z06 and am waiting for my Callaway Honker to arrive.
If you are going to spend time and money in that area, I would strongly recommend getting a CAI (cold air intake). You will notice the difference immediately...
If the Z06 air box flows good enough for 405hp, is it worth the upgrade?
The Z06 air box cover certainly is an upgrade over the stock cover.
But this is what I upgraded from to the Callaway. Wish I saved the $70. and just bought the Callaway in the first place. The benifits of the fresh air box far outweigh the Z06 cover.
I also spent a few bucks more and purchased the Elite Engineering Screen to keep the larger crud from entering the intake/rad. area. The added protection was worth it!

If you're thinking about a Honker, but don't mind the time and effort for a DIY project rather than shelling out the cash, you might consider this ingenious solution... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1547392
You take the stock lower intake box, flip it over and cut a hole in the upper radiator shroud.
