Default Need Help With High Oil Pressure Reading

My oil pressure guage is pegged at 117lbs. Is the sensor bad or is it the pump ?

Does it stay at 117 when the car is warmed up? Does it do the sweep ok?

If yes to bth, more then likely sensor or wiring issue.

c5's are horrible with oil pressure sensor's. Ive been through 3 now and im done buying them. They are a pita to change and make sure you dont overtorque I think its like 15 ftlbs but look it up.

The Guage is pegged at 80 and the dic is reading 117. Even with the engine off it reads 83lbs

Its the oil pressure sending unit for sure.. There is no such thing as 83psi with the engine off.. This is probably the second most common problem with the C5... Column Lock being #1. Consider a NAPA auto parts sending unit. Most of the threads I have read on this show the GM part to be a failure in the near future... There are other brands too. Do your research first. The Dealership wants around $300.00 for the job. Most of it is labor.. Pain in the butt project
