Default Installing New rims/tires question

Hi Guys,

Bought a set of after market rims and new tires (BFG DKW's) and have a question about the sensors. Is there any "o" rings that need to be replaced and is any way to check on the life of the batteries while the sensors are off the car. The vehicle is a '98 with 24k miles.

Thanks Jim

the '00 and earlier use "O" rings... do a search.. there is apost with the Lowes or Home Depot parts number where there is no Corvette tax.

Jim, if you have the original sensors, they are probably near the end of their useful life. With new wheels and tires I would spring for new sensors as well. They will certainly fail one at a time and you'll be spending more time and money at the tire store than if you replace them now. I think the "O" rings are #9s.

The sensors only become active when the car is in motion. With only 24,000 miles, my personal opinion is they'll be fine till next tire change. But the batteries do have a shelf life and if you're running the original tires and only changing tires now, it might be a good idea to get new sensors, since tires last a long time for you.
