Well you guys here is the story and how to get discount. I had cupping on ny front 2 tires like most of you do. I went to NTB, quoted me a price of 298.00.
I asked the guy about some type of discount or treadlife proration & he stated there was none. So I left trying to decide what to do(should i buy the runflats?firestones-not w/the trouble they are in,or another brand) Well , since i'm in mgmt I knew there was another way.I went to my owners manual, pulled out the goodyear pamplet and dialed the 1-800## for customer svc. I told her about the cupping and the lady simply asked me where did i want to buy tires from as long as they were a authorized dealer(not tire rack). She gave me a claim # and told me to tell the shop to call w/the claim#. I then went to the shop , the tech called while i was there watching him, she asked how many miles,23000,then she told him 130.00$$$$ a piece plus installation. and she gave the store credit for the other part right there on the phone. GOODYEAR HAS MY BUSINESS FOR LIFE FOR DOING THAT. I never would chance putting firestones on with all the trouble they have w/ their tires. Imagine carrying a c5 up to 150mph and chance a blowout. I also would never put a foreign brand on, simply because it's AMERICA'S SPORTS CAR. If GM took care of their customers like Goodyear did me, who knows how many more vettes we would buy. Sorry for the long post, But try it if you want runflats. If you cant locate the phone # i will post it later if asked. c5 ya :yesnod:
Thanks for this post... but with 38,000 miles on my GY run flats,,, 4/32 on the front.. 3/32 on the back.. no cupping and all wearing evenly.. I would find it difficult to say I was having any problems with these tires.. Ill get 40 or 42 thousand miles out of these tires..
the firestones won't blowout like the controversial ones. i believe they are made in japan by a totally different place from where the faulty ones were being made
Someone posted having Firestone run flats here yesterday... he had a nail or something,,took it to be repaired.. when they removed the tire.. there were a bunch of cracks that ran parallel to the bead... on of the cracks was 6 inches long.. they check all the tires and the tire shop refused to put two of the four tires back because of the cracks...
NTB @ THE FOUNTAINS AT SUGARCREEK. THEY TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CHROME 2001 WHEELS ETC.
WOW FIRESTONES MADE IN JAPAN, NOT ME, I'M PRO AMERICAN. HUMM, NOONE HAD A BLOWOUT YET @150 MPH AND LIVED TO TELL ABOUT ON FIRESTONES. MGMT IS TO QUESTIONABLE. :smash:
