Default SPEC clutches

What is the considered opinion on SPEC clutch assemblies. Looking at a SPEC stage 3 set-up for $300.00. (not new). Thanks, tom

I don't think I'd buy any used clutch. A lot of spec complaints due to balance/shudder, especially on poorly broken in units. I have a feeling this clutch was one of those.

I have a Spec stag 3. If you're looking at this clutch on a daily driver, I would pass. It can shudder pretty bad if you don't bring the revs up high enough on takeoff(1400-1500 or so). Just my .02.

I have had one in my DD for four years.
I orignally planned on drag racing this car a lot so I went with the Stage III. Turns out, I got way more into autocross and road racing.

Pros- grabs like a velcro **** and never slips.
Aluminum flywheel revs very quickly, frees up a few ponies.

Cons-when its cold, it squawks like a donkey, in the NE that means November through April.

It shudders very bad if you slip it slowly, you need to either rev up and let it out or slip the hell out of it. Everyone that tries to drive my car stalls it. I have been told by iron flywheel owners that this is more pronounced with the AL flywheel.
Its a good drag clutch but I won't be installing another one when this one quits.

PS, I would NEVER install a used clutch in something that sucks as bad to install as a C5.
