how do you reprogram '97-'99 tire pressure sensors? I have the '99 service
manual which details programing using (TPM) system programing tool
#J41760. What is a J41760 and can something simple be substituted??
I just want to do the rears. Do you have to do the fronts (already programed)
before the rears?

The program procedure relearn requires that you do all 4,starting at the left front...The J tool is a Kent-Moore tool sent to the dealers,a horse shoe shapped magnet that you place over the valve stem.A circular magnet such as one out of a trans pan works excellent. You can view the procedure at my site under "tech tips"...

That programming tool is basically a strong magnet. Any good Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnet will work. Just place it next to the valvestem and hold it there until you get the little "honk". You have to program them in order (LF, RF, RR, LR).
I used an old subwoofer I had lying around. I looked like a **** to all my neighbors but they are all clueless amyway. Between the speaker over my valvestems and using a leafblower to help dry my car they think I've lost my mind.....
