I got a C6 **** from GScreations.com thats made to fit on my Hurst shifter in the C5 which is the same as the stock shifter in terms of the threads for the ****. In other words, C6 and C5 shifter have different threads for the ***** and arent compatable unless you order them pre-fabbed or can do it yourself. I hated the square **** in the C5, dunno why you would want to keep it.
I just installed my C6 Z shifter, and it's stamped "ZO6" right on the base. I don't know if the mechanicals are different. There's no threads at all on the shaft, so you have to use a C6 **** unless you grind and thread it yourself. It is noticeably shorter than even my BPP shifter, as I had to modify the leather boot to fit.
Is there any difference between the C6 & C6 Z06 shifter other than part numbers?
Also, can I retain the C5 stock ball and boot with either of the C6 shifters?
Raz
You kind of answered your own question. If they have different part numbers then they are not the same. The C6 Z06 shifter has even shorter throws than the C6 one.
You will not be able to use your stock **** since the C6 shifter is not threaded at the top. The boot can be modified to fit. If you doa search you should find a few threads with pictures.
I had the C6 shifter when ECS installed my clutch and gear. I really like the shifter. Much better than the stock C5 shifter. While ECS was under the car, I had them change the gear fluid which im sure helped to. Ive never had a aftermarket shifter to compare to.
