A guy I know has a long block with a intake. 2004 z06. He says the number two cylinder dropped a valve and damaged piston. He says it needs one valve, re seat, and re-sleeve cylinder wall. What is this worth if anything?
Thanks
Usually when an engine goes like that it has debris throughout the engine. Obviously it will have to be completely disassembled and checked before purchase unless it was obtained for next to nothing.
He wants 800.00 I told him it was too much??? agree??
It all depends on how bad it lashed the piston. I doubt it was very bad, it will sound like a$$ even if it just barley touched the piston. Most of the time you can pull the head sand the little spot down to get ri of the sharp edges and it will be fine. I had an incompetent shop do a heads and camand they did torque the rockers and one broke a retainer and dropped a valve whichbent the valve and a pushrod but the piston just had a little lash mark in it and was easy to fix. See if you can pull the one head to see the damage before you buy it and if the piston is not cracked or cut badly it is totally worth that, if you take a pic of the piston I will buy it even if it isn't that bad.
Thats an excellent price for a longblock. Think about it the intake alone goes for 3-350 dollars on here. Not to mention the heads are worth a good amount once you fix them.....yeah I see quit beating around the bush and get it. Those blocks are not hard to fix at all.

From what your saying it sounds like the damage was pretty bad. If the cylinder needs to be re-sleeved it must have busted the piston and to do that it had to hit the bottom of the head pretty hard. So the head probably has some damage as well. Resleeveing can be pretty expensive alone.
May get him to pull the head and take a look and see just what has happened. Personally I wouldn't buy it if it has all that damage.

I recently ebayed off most of an '03 LS6 engine in pieces. Assuming a wrecked block and only one head that is perfect, and an oil pan, you've got about $800 worth of parts there. I did mine for the parts I wanted.
I don't recall the exact prices, but you can look up my profile as flatglass2axn there to see what parts brought in what $$. What do you want it for, and is it worth your bother?
