Damn Compressor!!!
Well my a/c compressor has a bad leak and Iv just decided to replace the entire thing with a new GM compressor. My dealer wants 1098.00 
parts and labor and that is with a life time warranty on the part. What all does replacing one of these things going to take if I was to do it myself? Would the rack and pinion have to come out? Motor raised? What?

Easy to do. You can either take off the water pump like the book says or pull the right header. It's tight, but it works. (I actually changed mine twice...got a bad one off of Ebay). I got mine from Advance Auto $219 with the dryer and orifice tube. It's AC Delco and comes with a lifetime warranty.
