Default Auto Tranny Question

On cold mornings I run 2100 RPMs @ 70 (in OD) until the tranny warms up then I'm 1900 @ 70. There is no slippage in any of the gears, level is OK, fluid good. Had tranny flushed refilled etc. 30k ago. Anyone else notice this on theirs.

Thanks

Never noticed but I run at 1900 with a 315. Will have to check it out.

When I had the 2.73 rr, it ran 2000 @ 75. Never noticed any change from cold to warm though.

oh, and now with the 3.42s.. 2400 @ 70... mileage =

I would say this is not a problem. The Over drives are not engaging to allow the car to run higher RPM to allow it too warm up.
I have had this also when it was really cold, the computer would keep higher rpm untill it warmed up. I do not have my manual with me at this moment so I cannot check to see what it states.

I've noticed the same thing on my 2000 A4. I've done a similar comparison, but don't remember the exact RPM's I had when running cold vs running warm. I assumed it was generally related to the fact that as fluids get warm, there is less resistance (e.g. tranny fluid, bearing grease, etc.) and that as tires heat up (and thus pressure goes up), rolling friction is reduced.

This is normal. The pcm does not allow torque convertor lock up until the computer goe's into closed loop. Most if not all late model cars do this, including the corvette.

Once again forum members come through and I really appreciate it. Never really noticed it in warmer weather.
Thanks again.
