I'm still debating on weather to go with the Protorque 2400 with 3.42
gears or just leave my 3.15s and go with the Yank 3000?
Jeff at performance tech isn't all that crazy about using Yank, and
is leaning me toward protorque he said something about them just not fitting
quite right! Anyone have a Yank that could take me for a ride?
Thanks Jim :smash: My car is supercharged if that makes a difference?
IMHO I would go with the YANK 3000 with your 3:15's. Forum member OACE, here in Chicago, just got that exact setup. I took it for a drive and it felt strong and did not feel loose. Maybe he can give you a spin.
I have installed a Yank SY3500 and it fit fine. I will soon have a Yank ST3500 installed by Brian at Vettewrench . In my cynical view I think Geoff sells those tc and gets a commision/markup...sooooo he may be not be as objective, just my opinion. Yank is widely used by the f-body guys and thye beat the shhheeeiitt out of 'em. :flag
YANK 3000.... Hands down!! :yesnod: I gained 5 tenths and 3 mph. It's a great street-strip TC. I am stepping up to the ST 3500 and installing 3.42's. It will be harder to hook on the street ,but I do most of my racing at the track.
I have a friend who went with the 2400 protorque (315 gears), and although it is a fine TC he now wishes he had gone with more stall. If you are just looking for a little more kick on the street, this TC will be fine. But if you are looking for the best of both worlds (street-strip) go with the 3000 Yank.
Another point you may want to consider is when installing 3.42's you will take away some of the effective stall in the TC, so in reality it's like losing a couple hundred rpm's of stall. Generly speaking, for optimum performance, you want more stall with more gear, to a point. This statement may be an over simplification, as there are a lot of other variables that come into play. HTH

Ditto what Jim (Intel55) said. With your Supercharger Setup, the 3500 stall will probably be too much. O-Aces car feels strong with the Yank 3000.
Brian at Vettewrench installed my 3.42s and TC 2 years ago and had no problem since.
O-Ace: Will you be there this Thursday night again at the gathering at Woodfield? If so, bring the C5 and park next to us, NOT THE VIPERS :p:

Yes, I will be there. I've never seen you guys there before and didn't see the C5s or I would definitely have parked next to the C5s. But then again...considering my car runs 10s (Twin-Turbo 422 Stroker with a 300 shot of Direct Port Nitrous), I probably should park next to the fastercars :p: :troll
   Good one :hat Wait a minute, speaking of you parking next to the fastest cars, didn't you parked next to the Subaru's instead of the Vipers :D

Hmm...parked next to a Yellow GTS. Didn't look anything like a Subaru to me :p: :D
Re: Still confused Converter which one? (Mean Green 2000)
Just depends on your objective!
meaning
If you only care about 1/4 performance then get a mondo 'verter and gears...If you only want street improvement, then go with a smaller stall...If you want a little of both, then go with a 'verter in between.

Have you looked into the Precision Industries Vigilante converter?

 ...so where do the ProTorque 2400 and the SY 3500 fall into that list? tia

I'd say the 2400 is too small and 3500 maybe too much. The Yank 3000 is just right :yesnod:
I'll toss my 2cents in here. I'm running the Pro Torque 2900 which is, I think, pretty close to the Yank 3000 in that it has roughly the same stall range and a similar STR (~2.0).
I've got it paired with the 3.42's and it is a perfect combo for me. I was really afraid that the 2900 would feel "loose" after reading some accounts on the boards here, but I don't detect that at all. Actually, the car feels a lot better to me, on the street, and feels more refined in some ways - power delivery feels smoother. Hitting it hard, the bottleneck has become traction. I can easily chirp 1st and 2nd if I want to, but using a measured throttle application, I can get killer launches even on the runflats.
I would say that the Yank 3000 with the 3.15's (assuming you definitely don't want to do Y3k *and* gears) is the way to go.
