C5 Tuning
I am new to this forum. I am Dutch and currently living in Germany.
At the moment I drive a 92 C4 Convertible, but I am in the process of buying a new C5 Convertible. My dealer is also a Corvette-Tuner and he offers a tuning-package, including:
6.3 Liters of displacement instead of 5,7
B&B Exhaust (the only legal one in Germany)
Cold-Airbox and special air-filter
Changed Enginemanagement
Oilcooler
Changed Cylinderheads
Sportcamshaft
and some ohter changes.
He claims the car will gain some 130 HP.
Does anyone of you have any experience with such tuning, can the engine handle this on a longer timeframe, and so on.
Greetings
Erik

Teh company is called Geiger Performance and is a well known Corvette Tuner in Germany.
That is some serious power you are asking for so I would be thorough. You also may want to ask the questions on how Geiger is increasing the displacment; is he using a Lunati stroker kit with forged pistons, forged rods and stroked crankshaft? If not is he resleeving the engine block and reusing the stock internals? What heads does he plan to use? Are they fully ported with proper valves, what do they flow (both intake and exhaust) @ .500 and what is their volumetric efficiency? A high performace camshaft can mean anything. Is it going to be solid roller (not likely) or a higher lift, more duration bumpstick? If emmsions apply to you there, will it pass? What will the idle be and effect on fuel economy? Get the camshaft full specs and who makes it. high performance pusrods means anything also, you should ask if he is milling the heads to increase compression and thus using shorter pushrods. Cold air box I like best for form and function is the Halltech TRIC. High flow throlttle body and air sensor can mean many things. you may want to look at the LS6 85 MAF. Do not use the BBK throttle body. Ask him who will be retuning your PCM.
I would just want to ask a ton of questions and get an exact part list and procedures that is involved so you can see exactly what you are getting for your hard earned money. I would bet that he is using a Lunati stroker kit to increase the displacment, but a big question to ask. :flag
